Uganda briefly closes main expressway after bomb scare

After a security scare on Wednesday, Ugandan police temporarily shut down a busy expressway linking the nation's major airport and the capital, Kampala.

According to tweets from police, a bomb squad was sent to perform an investigation along the Entebbe expressway before it was declared safe for use by the general public.

Until the investigations were finished and regular traffic flow was resumed, drivers were detoured to an old route that passes close to the expressway.

"Our bomb squad and crisis intervention squads deserve praise. The highway was reopened after the suspicious item was removed "police stated

The highway, which was financed by China, was inaugurated in 2018 and is the nation's first toll road.
