Bayern Munich celebrate Gnabry's second goal

Serge Gnabry's double inspired Bayern Munich as 10-man Chelsea were humbled 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Stamford Bridge.

The first half of the game ended goaless after the visitors went close on various occasions, with Willy Caballero making three sensational saves from Roberto Lewandowski and Thomas Muller hitting the bar.

Gnabry, who scored four goals against Spurs in a 7-2 group-stage win in October, netted an exquisite quick double in the 51 and 54 minute to put Bayern in control.

Seven minutes into the second half, the former Arsenal player broke the deadlock after a slip from Azpilicueta which allowed Gnabry to pick out Lewandowski down the left, with the striker driving into the area. It looked like Lewandowski would go for it himself, but he caught the ball back for Gnabry at the top of the area.

Three minutes later, he doubled the scoreline. Lewandowski and Gnabry played a neat move near the centre circle before the latter speed into the area. He then slotted home into the far corner and to give Bayern their second on the night.

Robert Lewandowski added a third in the 76 minute to give quench any interest of a come back from Lampard’s men. Davies used his pace to bamboozle Chelsea, skipped over two challenges before driving into the area. He then squared the ball for Lewandowski who slotted home to score his first knockout round goal in nearly two years.

Marcos Alonso was sent off seven minutes from time for a flailing arm to complete a miserable evening for the hosts.

The result leaves Chelsea with a monumental task in the second leg on March 18, with Jorginho also set to miss out after picking up a second-half booking.
