The visitors take a narrow lead into next week’s return leg after producing one of their best European performances on French soil.

The PSG captain broke the deadlock in a fine fashion in the 15th minute.

Marquinhos directed Di María's sumptuous in swinging corner from the right at the near post and sent an unstoppable header into the far corner of the net.

The game grew intense as PSG kept pressing the visitors for a second. Neymar almost turned provider with a corner from the left as Paris' threat from set-pieces became evident again. The Brazilian floated a cross into the near post for the Paredes who nodded just wide of the upright.

The hosts kept dominating the game but failed to add another to the scores until the whistle was blown to end the first half.

Paris were content to soak up City's pressure in the second half before hitting them on the counter-attack. They exhibited their defensive rigour against the Citizen’s high tempo attack resisted well as the likes of Di María got fully involved.

Kevin De Bruyne levelled the scores in the 64-minute after collecting Zinchenko's pass around 20 metres out and to the left of goal. He whipped a right-footed delivery into the box which evaded everyone and nestled just inside the upright in the 64-minute.

Seven minutes later, Mahrez put City in the lead through a free-kick. The 30-year-old Algerian international stepped up instead and managed to squeeze a curling, left-footed strike through the narrowest of gaps in the Paris wall, which narrowly evaded the despairing dive of Navas.

Iddrisu Gueye was sent off in the 77-minute after a reckless tackle on Gundogan leaving the hosts short in number.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of Manchester City.
