Tigray forces accuse Ethiopia of fresh offensive

The federal army, according to Tigrayan troops in northern Ethiopia, has started a fresh onslaught against them.

The Tigrayans said in a statement that new attacks had occurred near the southern border of their territory with Amhara on Wednesday morning.

The claims have not yet received a response from Addis Abeba.

A humanitarian truce established between the two sides in March is in danger of being undone due to rising tensions over the previous two weeks.

Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed in the conflict, which started in November 2020.
