Lampard will miss three key players when Chelsea travel to the Amex to play Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday, September 14, 2020.

The Blues have invested almost 250m in the transfer window and fetched out big stars - Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, and Thiago Silva.

Three of Lampard’s new signings will not be available for selections against the Seagulls. Hakim Ziyech and Chilwell are nursing injuries whiles Thiago Silva has not started playing with the team yet.

The former Paris Saint Germain captain was involved in European competition in August and is taking a few weeks' break.

"Hakim Ziyech took an injury to a knee against Brighton so won't be fit. Hopefully, it's a matter of weeks, a couple of weeks but we have to see," Lampard said at Thursday's press conference. "Ben Chilwell is working towards fitness and improved this week. He's going in the right direction but won't be ready for Brighton.

"Thiago is in London but not training with us until the weekend, so I doubt he's in contention for the game."

Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are in contention to make their debuts on Monday.

The Daily Mail reported that Havertz has impressed at training since joining his teammates, 24 hours after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.
