"The road has affected us economically" - Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed Maaye on the Ahodwo Daaban Road

Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed Maaye, a resident of Ahodwo Daaban is appealing to government and stakeholders as a matter of urgency to speed up with the construction of the Ahodwo Daaban road or at least water the road to suppress dust and prevent them from becoming airborne.

Roads leading from Ahodwo through to Ampabameng and other towns have been under construction for almost two years now and inhabitants are unhappy with how the dust is left unattended causing many businesses to malfunction due to failure to spray the surface with water to temporarily bond with the particles to prevent them from been carried by the wind.

Information gathered reveals that most trades by the roadside have been closed down, affecting lives in the resident and creating health contests among people.

Speaking to SoireeNews on the situation, Sheikh Maaye revealed that although putting up the wrecked bridge was the request of residents due to its devastating nature, preventing cars from travelling to neighboring towns yet failure to control the dusty road in respect to residence needs is not improving.

“Our bridge had a problem in the previous years. Thanks to God for the government, a new bridge has been erected but the road construction has taken more time than expected. It has created a lot of dust and the contractors are refusing to water it to limit the particles from becoming airborne,” he said.

“Its our biggest challenge today. It becomes difficult to dress to functions knowing what you’ll be facing on the road. We are pleading to government to come to our aid. Even if there is limited resources to complete the road now, at least watering will sustain us for a while,”

He spoke that the upsetting nature of the road is affecting residence economically in so many ways considering the residential pattern of the city sanctioned to go through such rough phase.

“Ahodwo Daaban is a residential area and people do not have to go through this. Drivers have to visit the mechanic shops regularly to change their car parts due to what the road offer them,” he added.

“Landlords have houses for rent at affordable prices yet no one wants to acquire them due to the nature of the road and the challenges. infact, the road has affected us economically,” he ended.
