Zinedine Zidane is content at the performance put up by Real Madrid in their Champions League game on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos came from two-goal down to level with Monchengladbach at the Borussia Park.

A brace from Marcus Thuram in both halves gave the visitors the lead to win the game but Madrid were determined for a point having already lost to Shakhtar Donetsk in their opening fixture at home. Karim Benzema struck in the 87 minutes before Casemiro secured the equalizer in added time.

"The result shows the character in this team," Zidane said afterwards.

"We deserved to draw and I think even more. I like the reaction and it's an important point.

"We played well throughout the match, but it's true that we lacked something because we didn't win. We believe in the plan and we deserved the draw.

"There was a lot of good and there are no easy games. If we play like this then we'll do good things and we'll progress to the knockout rounds."

The introduction of Eden Hazard at the latter stage was a boost to the visitors who trailed by two goals. Zidane spoke that it was part of the game plan yet there are no assurances whether the player will be available for them the following game.

“I don't know how we'll get him back, as we play every three days. We'll see."

Real Madrid are at the bottom of Group B with a point with the top occupied by Shakhtar with four.
