Tanker Driver's Union(TDU) calls for duplication of Ashaiman Timber Market Roundabout  road

The Chairman of the Tanker Drivers Association(TDA), Mr. George Nyaunu has called for the dualization of the Ashaiman Timber Market Roundabout. Tanker Driver's Union(TDU)

The aim, according to him, is to ease the traffic situation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com, Mr. Nyaunu disclosed that dualization of the roundabout would improve businesses and reduce the time spent on that stretch of road.

According to him, the long hours spent in traffic on the said road have a.telling effects on their businesses hence the urgent need to dualize the section of road.

Mr. Nyaunu observed in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com bemoaning the long hours they, particularly, the tanker drivers spend on that section of the road before getting to their destination.
"Our work is time-bound so the long hours we spent in traffic affect the quantity of fuel we are given to transport our fuel to a particular destination", he said.
"Time and fuel spent in traffic around the Ashaiman timber market road are affecting our work hence we suggest the government should dualize the roundabout", he indicated.

Mr. Nyaunu disclosed that the dualization of said stretch would enable them to save time and fuel thereby reducing the cost of doing their businesses.

Mr. George Nyaunu made the call on Thursday, April, 7, 20,2,2 in Tema while expressing his frustrations about the long hours they spend around the roundabout", he said.

He said tanker drivers work with a specific quantity of fuel to travel on a journey therefore any delay in traffic affects their operations.
He said it was unacceptable to have the situation persist for years,  therefore making them not maximize profit.
He described some roads in the country as not properly constructed and hence the cause of many avoidable accidents.
He said roads have been constructed without bus stops wondering "if our leaders see what is done elsewhere".

According to him, the amount of resources wasted on that stretch of road before they could drive to a particular location, no longer makes their business attractive.
"Speaking, our vehicles, hazardous track, you cannot monitor as the commercial vehicles do, this means that if you join the fleet of cars on the road, you have to continue until you get to your destination and by the time you get to Afienya, you will have consumed about 10 gallons of fuel but you see any trip you go, the transporter calculate the quantity of fuel that will last you the journey. But you can stay at a point for more than 30 minutes before you move", he lamented.
"Gone are the days where we operate few trucks, but now, look at the number of cars we operate", he lamented.
"Urgent measures must be put in place now to mitigate this business-crippling challenge", he added.
He called on stakeholders to consider their plight and mitigate it immediately to maximize cost.
