Tammy Abraham has completed a €40 million move from Chelsea to AS Roma, the Italian club has confirmed.

The English player won the Champions League and European Super Cup with the Premier League outfit but was not considered part of the club following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel when Frank Lampard departed.

The 23-year old put pen to paper on a five-year contract and will wear the No.9 shirt for his new club. Barcelona football club were reported to have wanted to hijack the deal to their favour yet convincing words from Jose Mourinho made sure Abraham made the move to Italy.

“You can sense when a club really wants you – and Roma made their interest clear immediately,” said Abraham after putting pen to paper.

“Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again – so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be.

“It’s a massive honour to be the No. 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team.”
