As part of efforts to help Government sustain the Green Ghana Project which began a few weeks ago with tree planting exercises across the country, Tropenbos Ghana and EcoCare Ghana both Environmental NGOs have launched another program dubbed, "Landscapes and Environmental Agility across the Nation (LEAN).

Speaking during the program launch in Techiman, Mrs Mercy Owusu Ansah Director for Tropenbos Ghana noted that LEAN is a four-year project which is being implemented in six districts in the landscape zone namely; Techiman North & South, Nkoranza North & South in the Bono East region as well as Offinso North & South in the Ashanti.

The program he revealed will engage over 12,000 farmers to plant trees and also ensure they are sustained in order to restore the degraded forests to near their original state.

For his part, Honourable David Kwasi Asare Boakye "Adwumawura", award-winning DCE for Offinso North on behalf of the six beneficiary district assemblies reiterated the President Akuffo Addo led NPP government's commitment to Green Ghana, therefore, pledging to work together with the NGOs and farmers in order to make this dream a reality.

In addition, Dr Ebenezer Dagbletey Director of Operation of the Transition Zone Forestry Services Department also noted that trees are vital for human habitat, therefore, urged all key Stakeholders to support this LEAN project in order to plant more trees for our environment.

Finally, some farmers who attended the program launch recognizing the effects of climate change on agricultural activities were glad that Tropenbos and EcoCare had come up with such an exercise declaring their full support and participation.
