Jose Mourinho’s Spurs topped Group J in the Europa League after a 2-0 victory over Royal Antwerp in London on Thursday Night.

The Premier League side started the game on a slower tempo and had the Belgians dominating play but it was only a matter of time for Tottenham to respond.

It took a second-half strike from Carlos Vinicius after 12 minutes to tap home a rebound from Gareth Bale’s freekick from 35-yard to give the hosts the lead.

Giovanni Lo Celso doubled the advantage in the 71-minute through Harry Kane’s assistance.

According to the Spurs manager after the game, his side were defensively organized and were on top of their game with intense pressing to breakthrough.

“They are a difficult side, they press, they mark, they chase, lots of one against ones all over the pitch, great intensity and one thing we did amazingly well was to press them high and keep them away from our defensive area. I don’t think Joe Hart made a save, and that’s what we did better.

“In the first half the quality of our football was not bad, but a bit slow, but from the beginning of the second half, not just after the changes, we were more intense, the ball was running faster, the players had more movement and it was then a question of time to score the first goal and win the game."

Spurs will wait to find out their next opponents in the round of 32 during Monday's draw as one of the seeded teams.
