Xhedan Shaqiri has tested negative for COVID-19 after a subsequent test result, confirmed by the Swiss FA.

The Liverpool forward on Tuesday was reported to have tested positive for the virus whiles on international duty with Switzerland.

The 28-year old was the third Liverpool player to have contracted the novel pandemic after Thiago, and Sadio Mane which forced them to miss the Reds 7-2 thrashing by Aston Villa on Sunday night.

Shaqiri, who was ruled out of the UEFA Nations League games will now travel with the team to Spain as they prepare for their tie on Saturday, with the UEFA Health Committee to rule on his eligibility for the fixture.

They will also face Germany in the Nations League on Tuesday night.

He is yet to feature in the Reds Premier League matches for the new season following his Carabao Cup impressive performance against Lincoln City. He made seven appearances for the Reds last season and scored a goal to help the Reds clinch their first Premier League trophy in 30 years.

The 28-year old was speculated to be on Jurgen Klopp's transfer list yet the shut of the window provides a new test for him to be a key part of Klopp's team.
