Search of Trump's house 'an eye-popping moment'

According to the former North America editor of the BBC, the search of Trump's residence is a "jaw-dropping, hair-raising, eye-popping moment."

Jon Sopel calls it an attorney general's move that is "astonishingly remarkable."

The FBI director and his superior Attorney General Merrick Garland, as well as a judge, would have undoubtedly approved any search of a private property.

In addition, Sopel notes that Trump would have had Secret Service agents at Mar-a-Lago. She wonders what might have happened if they had been there, including whether they would have tried to protect the president or assisted in the search.

The Secret Service was informed just before the warrant was issued, about 10:00 (14:00 GMT), according to a previous anonymous law enforcement official who spoke to CBS. Agents protecting Mr. Trump also assisted the FBI investigators.
