Two goals in the second half from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane gave Liverpool the advantage into the second leg of the Champions League against RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena on Tuesday night.

The Reds entered into the game after suffered three successive defeats in the Premier League.

The German outfits were close to breaking the deadlock early on after a delightful Angeliño cross from the left following a crisp passing move from Leipzig, was met by the 22-year-old midfielder at the near post. Both sides pressed with high intensity and looked to get the ball forward as quickly as possible but the Leipzig defence were eye tight on Salah and prevented the Liverpool from causing any danger.

Liverpool took control of the game and begun finding spaces down the right but still lacked the finishing touch as the host kept struggling in defence anytime Liverpool transition.

Mohamed Salah gave the Red the lead in the 53-minute. The 28-year-old pounced on Sabitzer's overhit back pass before coolly slotting home past an already-committed Gulácsi.

Five minutes later Sadio Mane doubled the advantage when he punished Mukiele's attempted clearance by scampering clear and sidefooting past a helpless Gulácsi to keep their impressive record against German opponents intact.

His goal was his 20 goals in all European competitions for Liverpool, becoming only the fifth player in the club's history to reach that total

The Reds return to England with a two-goal advantage.
