Rwanda genocide suspect Kabuga to appear at hearing

A former businessman who is allegedly one of the organizers of the Rwandan genocide is scheduled to appear in court in The Hague on Thursday.

Félicien Kabuga, who is 87 years old, was apprehended in France two years ago after evading capture for more than 20 years.

Mr. Kabuga presided over Radio Television Libre des Mille Collines, a radio station that broadcast appeals for the murder of Tutsis, in the 1990s

He is charged with crimes against humanity, genocide, and incitement to commit genocide. He is scheduled to testify before a tribunal that will replace the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, which concluded its operations in Tanzania in 2015.

The 1994 genocide in Rwanda led to the killing of 800,000 Tutsis and thousands of moderate Hutus.
