Assembly Members of the Upper East Region have expressed their devotion towards the development of the Region, following the reaffirmation of six Municipalities and Districts Chief Executives.

The Assembly Members since the commencement of the confirmations had displayed a spirit of goodwill towards His Excellency President Akufo-Addo’s nominees for the positions of Chief Executives across the 15 Municipalities and Districts of the Region.

On September 30, 2021, the first Assembly to pave the way was the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, where 33 Members voted “YES” to confirm Hon. Rex Asanga as the MCE.

A total number of 22 Assembly Members at the Bolgatanga East District also exhibited the same spirit of goodwill by giving Hon. David Akologo Amoah 100 per cent endorsement.

Similarly, the Assembly Members at the Kassena Nankana Municipality did not disappoint as they also confirmed Hon. Joseph Adongo with 97.87 per cent votes.

Hon. Vida Akantagriwen Anaab, the nominee for the Builsa North Municipal Assembly received overwhelming endorsement by the 42 Honourable Assembly Members who were present to exercise their franchise, to enable her to continue the development agenda of the Assembly.

The Hon. Daniel Kwame Gariba, the incumbent DCE for the Builsa South District, who was re-nominated by President Akufo-Addo to serve a second term, polled 19 votes out of the 28 valid votes cast.

There is a high expectation that on Monday, October 4, 2021, the good people of Tempane and Garu Districts would demonstrate the same favour to enhance the speedy development of their respective areas.

It is strongly believed that Assembly Members of the remaining areas would overwhelmingly endorse the nominees to fast-track development in the region.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu called on all residents to rally behind the nominees in order to accelerate the growth of the Region.

He indicated in his speech at the various Assemblies that they may not be privy to the choice of the nominees, and may equally not agree with the choice either but encouraged them all to trust the work done by those who were charged with the responsibility to select the nominees for the respective Assemblies.

Hon. Yakubu assured that President Akufo-Addo had good intentions for the good people of the Region, and urged the rest of the Assemblies not to disappoint him.

He said there was the need for them to speedily confirm the nominees to propel the development agenda and programmes for poverty reduction and the general improvement in the living standards of the people.

The Regional Minister expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Assembly Members for the peaceful confirmation process so far and was hopeful that the same would be replicated in the remaining areas.
