The Vice-chairman of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) in the Akuapem North Constituency, Kwaku Agyapong has expressed disappointment in His Excellency, Nana Akufo Addo for the nomination of Mr Godfred Yeboah Odame as the Attorney General-designate.

Mr Agyapong asserted that Lawyer Godfred Yeboah Odame demonstrated ill-feeling towards six communities and must recuse himself from vetting to prevent disgrace to NPP  and the President.

Mr Agyapong a.k.a Tunde, emphasized that someone who constitutionally made a secret coup to prevent people from making a choice during the parliamentary election does not deserve to be vetted by the Legislative body.

Through his draft of C.I 128, Santrokofi, Bume, Gbodome, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi was curved from Volta to Oti Region without providing a constituency.

He lamented that as it stands, these six communities are not under Hohoe or Jasikan Buem Constituencies.

It emerged that the people of Santrokofi, Bume, Gbodome, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi were disenfranchised to choose a representative of parliament during December 7th 2020 election.

According to Mr Agyapong, the attorney general's department must be occupied by a person of dignity who can also be trusted, since one of its mandates is to protect and defend every Ghanaian regardless of his/her political affiliation.

He added that Lawyer Godfred Odame does not possess such qualities and cannot occupy the seat because he cannot defend the rights of a poor Ghanaian.

The communities fall within the Jasikan District but the C.I. 126 did not define them within the Buem Constituency under the Representation of the Constitutional Instrument, 2020 C.I. 128, so it affected the demarcation.

For this, reason, the electoral commission openly informed that the six communities cannot take only vote in the Presidential election but not the parliamentary.
