Returning Mozambicans again flee attack-hit region

Following a jihadist attack on a community on Monday, the Mocimboa da Praia area in the country's violently afflicted north is once more seeing a population exodus.

According to reports in the local media, those fleeing are displaced individuals who had previously lived in the region before it was liberated from militants by a combined force of forces from Mozambique and Rwanda.

In the village of Chitolo, the insurgents and security forces are said to have engaged in combat, but there are no reports of casualties or the amount of the attack's damage.

Additionally, there are no specifics regarding how many individuals have left for their safety.

It occurs while rebel group attacks continue in several locations throughout the province of Cabo Delgado.

On Sunday, several houses were torched and one person was found dead the next day in a village in the Meluco district following an attack.

There have also been reports of confrontations between the jihadists and the army in the Nhalidi area of the Macomia district.
