Liverpool are top of the Premier League after Matchweek seven following a 2-1 win against West Ham United on Saturday at Anfield.

It is the first time in the current season where the Reds have taken to the summit of the current campaign, taking over from Everton after six-match weeks on top the League.

Despite injury clouding the Reds chances of defending the trophy, with Virgil van Dijk and Chamberlain suffering long term injury whiles Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Matip and Tsimikas been sidelined as they recover, the Reds have amassed 16 points out of a possible 21.

Back to back defeats by the Toffees and Aston Villa saw them surrender their unbeaten records for a decline on the table whiles Mourinho’s Spurs climb to second having cruised over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday night.

Ancelotti’s first loss to Southampton and the 2-1 defeat to the Magpies was his first since 2014. The Toffees were without James Rodriguez at the St. James and seem to lack creativity in midfield to put the forwards to work although Calvert Lewin scored in stoppage time to set up a tense finish to keep his records mounting in the goal scorers chart.

Manchester United continued with their deprived form at Old Trafford by losing 1-0 to Arsenal, a chance converted by Aubameyang from the spot after Paul Pogba had fouled Hector Bellerin in the yard.

The results keep the Red Devils on the 15th spot with 7 points with a game in hand. Man City’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane moved Guardiola’s side to 10th with 11 points also awaiting when they one remaining game would be honoured. The former Champions will play Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Two matches are yet to be played on Monday – Fulham welcome West Bromwich Albion at the Craven Cottage whiles Leicester City visit Leeds United at Elland Road late in the day.
