EPL DAY 10: Foxes record the biggest away win in top division after thrashing Saints; Southampton 0 - 9 Leicester

Leicester have become only the second side in Premier League history to have two players score a hat-trick in the same game (Pérez and Vardy), after Arsenal in May 2003 - also against Southampton (Pennant and Pires).

Vardy celebrate his second goal of the night

Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez completed hat tricks as Ben Chilwell, Tieleman’s and James Maddison’s addition ruthlessly demolished Southampton by 9-0 at the Saint Mary’s on Friday Night.

Leicester have recorded the joint-biggest margin of victory in Premier League history, alongside Manchester United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich at Old Trafford in March 1995.

Southampton and Leicester each named unchanged line-ups for the night's clash at St Mary's.

The Saints were in search for their first home win since April as Ralph Hasenhuttl stuck with the starting XI, which secured a 1-1 draw at Wolves last weekend.

Brendan Rodgers' called upon James Maddison after the attacking midfielder showed no ill effects from a recent ankle injury following Saturday's 2-1 success against Burnley.

Chilwell scored the opener in the 10-minute for Leicester after a quick start by the Foxes. He had plenty of space just outside the Southampton penalty area. He chose against shooting and played a pass into the feet of Barnes, who took on a first time shot. Gunn got down to make the save but only pushed the ball out as far as Chilwell, who made no mistake with the rebound.

Bertrand was shown the Red card at VAR’s confirmation when he horribly caught Perez on the shin with his studs.

The challenge was shown on the big screen and there were no complaints from the home fans or the Southampton players. The Saints entered in the game with 10 men against stronger Foxes.

Tieleman doubled the lead in the 17-minute before Perez added a third two minutes later.

Southampton looked oppressed and affected by the numerical advantage as Leicester kept attacking them in their own half of the pitch.

The result got worse for the homeside when Perez scored Leicester’s forth six minutes to extra time. Chilwell picked up the ball on the left edge of the Southampton penalty area and he had time and space to pick out Perez at the far post. Valery switched off and Perez run off him before finishing emphatically from a tight angle.

Vardy wrapped up the first half with a fifth goal from a Chilwell's cross which turned past Yoshida lifting the ball over the onrushing Gunn and into the back of the net.

Ings and Vestergaard were replaced by Stephens and Danso for Southampton as a lot of empty seats were witnessed for the second half.

The flood gate kept pouring goals when Perez completed his hat trick in the 57-minute.

Barnes clipped a delightful ball over the top of the Southampton defence for Perez, who took a touch before finishing for his hat-trick. A minute later Vardy added the seventh of the night after Chilwell got to the byline with ease and stood up a cross for the forward.  He made no mistake and headed the ball into the corner of the net.

The Leicester fans kept chanting "Vivhai, Vichai” song to keep their boys on against the humbled Saints.

Maddison added an eight from a freekick five minutes to time before Jamie Vardy completed a hat trick in additional time through a penalty kick.

He was on the run in the box and had the chance to make it nine for Leicester but Bednarek slided on the Englishman.

Leicester wrote their name in the book of records as the only club in premier league history to record the biggest away win in top division.

They have moved to second on the PL table, a point ahead of the Champions and five more behind Liverpool who have a game in hand on Sunday against Spurs.
