Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane will not be joining the Saudi Professional League (SPL) this summer.

It had been reported in some quarters that Varane would become the latest big name to make a mega money move from the Premier League to the Middle East.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the former France international has not had any contact with Saudi clubs, and he has no interest in making such a switch.

Furthermore, Man United still see the 30-year-old centre-back as pivotal to their plans with manager Erik ten Hag hoping to build his defence around him.

Varane joined Manchester United from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in the past.

The defender is thought to be ‘very happy’ at Old Trafford and has not yet been contracted by any Saudi teams – and even if they made an approach – it would be rejected by Varane.

Varane helped United lift the Carabao Cup last season and during his time at Real Madrid he won four Champions League titles.

He has 93 caps for France, helping his nation win the World Cup in 2018 and reach the final in Qatar four years later.
