Camidoh and Black Sherif receive nominations for the first Trace Awards

Black Sherif and Camidoh from Ghana have received wonderful news after being nominated for the inaugural Trace Awards, which will be held on October 21 in Kigali, Rwanda.

The nominations have rekindled hope in the enormous potential of Ghana's music business by allowing two of its favorites to rub elbows with the best of the best in the continent's music scene, including Davido and Burna Boy.

Black Sherif will compete against artists including Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, and Davido in the Best Collaboration and Best Artiste Africa categories.

Libianca (Cameroon) and a number of Nigerian artists, such as Ayra Starr, Rema, Fireboy DML, and Kizz Daniel, are among those challenging Camidoh for the title of Song of the Year.

The nominations are evidence of Black Sherif, the current VGMA Artiste of the Year, and Camidoh's growing popularity. Camidoh was chosen for the 2023 BET Viewers Choice: Best New International Act category at this year's awards ceremony, which took place yesterday, June 25.

The inaugural Trace Awards ceremony is scheduled for Kigali, Rwanda in October of this year and will bring together performers, business leaders, and fans to honor the lively and dynamic music scene around the world.

Platinum-selling artists from more than 30 nations in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, and Europe are vying for awards in 22 categories.

Along with nominees from the continent, the various music of the African diasporas is also represented by well-regarded artists from France, Brazil, the UK, the Caribbean, and the Indian Ocean, such as Shenseea from Jamaica, Stormzy from the UK, Aya Nakamura from France, and Leo Santana from Brazil.

The awards presentation will serve as a forum for industry collaboration and networking in addition to honoring the nominees' accomplishments.
