Odion Ighlo will stay at Manchester United until 2021.

Shanghai Shenhua have endorsed the Nigerian international’s stay at Old Trafford until the current season is finished.

Ighalo joined Manchester United to provide cover for injured Marcus Rashford with his loan deal expected to finish on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

The Times reported on Tuesday that the Chinese club insists Ighalo return when the loan deal concludes as a whopping £75m new extension awaits to put off interest.

With the current Premier League season jeopardized by the coronavirus pandemic and \Project Restart' is in the process, the services of the 30-year-old is still needed by Manchester United to compete in the PL fixtures and European tournament.

18 games would be required to be played in just two months by the Red Devils, and regardless of Marcus Rashford’s recovery, the services of Ighalo is required to complete the season.

Seven months has been extended to execute the needed support although United remains in talks with the Super League club to make longer Ighalo’s loan deal.

He has four goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils so far. He is currently part of Manchester United squad who have resumed training ahead of the commencement of the League season.
