Gospel artiste, Eric Jeshrun has claimed that the music sector, and as an extension, the creative arts sector will be destroyed if the stakeholders don't watch the kinds of political games they play.

According to him, too much of everything is bad, and "over-politicisation" of the Ghanaian creative sector will hinder any form of progress in the area.

The artiste has sternly cautioned the stakeholders who have been making calculated political moves in recent times towards the coming elections whiles speaking on Onua TV’s Anigye Emre programme, hosted by Christian Agyei Frimpong.

He admonished the players in the sectors to think of the general implementations that can drive the sector forward; proactive solutions that surpass partisan ambitions, instead of holding on to backward positions due to their respective party affiliations.

He made it clear that this new mentality if adopted, will definitely fast track the development of the creative arts sector and improve the fortunes of players in the industry on a larger scale.

Although the "You Reign" hitmaker did not spell it out, it was obvious he was speaking against the recent unfavourable laws that have been allowed to be put into place by stakeholders.

It was earlier reported that the Gaming Commission had released an official statement, ordering the operators of betting companies in Ghana to desist from using celebrities to entice customers. The move, which bears a gigantic political significance, especially with the timing of the ban, is set to stifle growth in the creative arts sector as less cash is set to flow in now.

Mr Jeshrun further clamoured for a localised digital music streaming platform with less tax regime that would help artistes make more from their songs and allow more artists to come into the fold. The artists, who recently released his debut album dubbed “Healing Stream” made up of 10 songs featuring the likes of  Nathaniel Bassey, Joe Mettle, Blessing Ohanele, Efe Grace, and Kingsley Ampofo, admitted that younger ones are terrified to enter the music industry now knowing that the stakeholders aren't ready to favour the sector.

His new album includes tracks like You Reign’, ‘Healing Stream’, ‘Chant of Healing’, ‘Nyankopon’, ‘Onyeoma’, ‘Satisfy’, ‘Yahweh’, ‘Mama’s Song’, among others.
