Hammer of the Last Two has claimed that Pappy Kojo went into a deep depression because the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards did not give him the awards that everyone knew he deserved.

He made this statement while arguing that award schemes are mentally damaging artists by not conducting their voting processes well.

This mental damage he noted, will always lead to depression at the need of the day since the artists know that they did not get what they worked hard for in the year under review.

According to him, award schemes have now lost their relevance as a result of artists trying to manage this depression.

He explained how artists no longer look forward to award schemes because they would award their own favourites over people who have worked hard.

Using Pappy Kojo as his major example, he recalled how the artists were nominated for nine awards but could not win any on the night.

This action is enough to depress even the best of the best Hammer outlined.

“Some time ago Pappy Kojo went into depression, I believe it was as a result of the VGMA ordeal, he was nominated for nine but won none. This act has a huge potential of breaking an artiste’s mental health."

"The mind is very fragile, if you joke with it, it’s very dangerous. Don’t push these boys to the wall and just walk away from them, it breaks them,” he stated in an interview with AsempaFM.

“When you nominate an artiste for nine awards at least he/she must leave with two. If you know that that person is not getting even one award, don’t give him nine nominations. It’s too much to go home empty-handed; you can nominate that person for three awards,”

The likes of Kelvynboy, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Wendy Shay have all pointed out that the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMAs) amongst other awards only give their favourites awards.
