The Yilo Krobo Municipal Command has delegated some powers to the Odumase Krobo Police to as a matter of urgency probe and investigate an alleged abduction of the Divisional chief of Piengua by an armed group alleged to be traditional warriors from Manya Krobo traditional area in the Eastern Region.

The investigation has led to the arrest of the chief who was released later by the suspects. He is assisting the investigation in defying police orders not to organize the durbar.

Fortunately, efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects who attacked and abducted the chief.

The Divisional Chief of Piengua traditional area Nene Tetteh Zogli III and many others including his elders and followers were attacked by some unknown armed men at Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region on Saturday.

The armed men alleged to be Traditional warriors from Manya Krobo Traditional area attacked procession of the Piengua Divisional chief and Elders who were heading towards Yokwanor M/A Basic School Park for durbar to climax the Ngmayem festival by Division.

The Divisional Chief Nene Tetteh Zogli III sustained an injury in the head while others suffered various degrees of injuries in their bodies.

The rampaging group also stormed the durbar grounds to destroy canopies and chairs and chased away persons who were already seated.

The incident has been linked to the chieftaincy feud in the Manya Krobo traditional area.

Some of the divisional chiefs including the Piengua Divisional chief have rebelled against the Manya Krobo Paramount Chief, Nene Sackite II.
