Police Arrest Kublemahagu Assemblyman for being a citizen

The Assemblyman for the Kublemahagu Electoral Area in the Tamale South Constituency, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed has been arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command for tasking the police to provide a search warrant.

The armed police personnel from the Police command stormed the area this afternoon to search the room of a man, accused by management of the Northern Electricity company and the Volta River Authority (NEDCo/GRIDCo) of assaulting their field workers.

The police at the point of breaking into the suspect room meet fearless resistance from the community members for the police failed to produce a search warrant. The Assemblyman who was called to the scene also attested to the need for the police to provide a certified search warrant before breaking the suspect's room.

His intervention which didn't go down with the police officers later caused the arrest of the Assemblyman at the Regional Police Headquarters when he was called by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the police, Asp Baba Ananga.

Residents told Soireenews that, the Assemblyman was invited by the Public Relations Officer who doubles as the Regional Crime Officer, but was later arrested for his quest for the search warrant.

Kublemahagu Electoral Area has been in darkness for nine (9) days now following a misunderstanding between a resident and the power company.
