A compound house at Kublemahaku, a suburb of Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region of Ghana with sixteen (16) rooms has been burnt down this morning.

The fire which started this morning today Tuesday, 25 January 2022 burnt everything belonging to occupants of the house.

The occupants, at the period of the incident, tried to quench the fire but failed along the line, and had to run for their lives. Personnel from the Ghana fire Service at the Sagnarigu station arrived at the scene late.

A woman, Mma Ayishatu who is an occupant of the house, and a trader loosed her bags of foodstuff including pepper, maize, beans, groundnut, and soya bean.

Some of the valuable items that got burnt include television, gas, beds, cooking utensils, cardboards, fridges, motorbikes, Kuffuor gallon, chairs, and other properties.

She told Soireenews that, the fire started from her nearby room and at the time he wasn't at home.

"I was sitting just in front of my room here when the incident happened this morning, I saw smoke coming out from the room close to my room, at the time I was working on the foodstuff I bought from the village to sell to my customers here in Tamale".

According to her, because of the nature of the fire, the household came out from their rooms to call for help. "I don't have anything left on me, my clothes and everything in my room is burnt, so am asking help from the public".  Mama Ayishatu requested.

The caretaker of the house, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed speaking to Soireenews said he only came to meet the incident that happened so, therefore, he can't tell the cause of the fire.

He however used the opportunity to advise residents to always take precautions whenever they sense electrical fault at home.

According to him, though he doesn't stay in the house he was told there was an interruption in the lighting system in the house.

The Northern Regional public relations officer of the Ghana Fire Service, Mr. Baba Hudu said the investigation will soon commence discovering the cause of the fire.

He expressed worried over residents' delay in calling the fire Service whenever a fire engulfs a building.

He advised the public to save the contact numbers of the fire service, and further complain of bad road networks in most communities which normally prevent them from reaching accident homes.

Mr. Baba further appealed to the government, philanthropists, and the general public to support the affected victims.
