Over 200 Civil Servants Become Homeless at Obuasi East.

Several over 200 civil servants including, immigration officers, nurses, teachers, police officers, and prison officers at Tutuka in the Obuasi East District have expressed worry about the decision of the assembly to evict them from their current apartment to pave way for the staff of the District Assembly to occupy their apartment instead.

The aggrieved civil servants cannot understand why they are all equal government workers serving the country but the assembly has decided to treat them unfairly to evict them from their place of abode.

This came to light when they received a letter from the rent control department asking them to evict their apartment within two weeks to allow the assembly workers to come and occupy the apartment.

According to them, due to this misunderstanding between them and the assembly, their pipes have been disconnected from the main source and they are trying even to disconnect their electrical power.

Some of the affected individuals including women also expressed worry about the effects of the decision taken by the assembly to evict them.

Speaking to the District Chief Executive of Obuasi East Honourable Faustina Amissah, said some of the civil servants and their families have resided there for about three to four years now.

Their eviction has come at a time when the assembly needs the land for different projects.

She added that the assembly want to build a hostel for the students because the District now has University campuses in Obuasi East, therefore, they have to leave the place for other developers to be taken place on the land.
