Jana residents appeal for improved drainage system
Flooding at Jana

A section of residents of Jana, a farming community in the Nanton District of the Northern Region is calling on the government to construct large drains in the community to prevent the regular flow of flooding during the rainy season.

Jana, a farming community in the Nanton District is populated with about five hundred people and most of the parts are often flooded during rainy seasons which renders residents homeless.

Speaking to Soireenews, inhabitants of the community-made known that they always find it difficult to enjoy their sleep during the rainy season because of the flooding situation in the community.

They lamented that anytime there is water submergence, their foodstuffs and homes are destroyed and they need a lasting solution to the problem.

A native expressed that whenever the rains start at night, "most of us may lose hopes because there is no proper drainage system in our community."

They are therefore appealing to the government to make the drainage system eschew any occurrences.
