NPP Supporters storm Police Station as Constituency Treasurer was beaten by Police Men

Scores of supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) within the Afram Plains North Constituency in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, stormed the Donkorkrom Police Divisional Command to demand justice for their constituency Treasurer, Mr Seth Kwabena Atuobi (Ɔdɔ Kwabena),

He was beaten severely by police Men at Donkorkrom.

According to information picked up by Soireenews, the heartbreaking accident occurred on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, amidst tension in the area.

They spoke that the police officer with the Donkorkrom Police Divisional Command had beaten up the NPP Constituency Treasurer with some Okada drivers when deployed to fight the armed robbers and other criminals in the area.

They explained that NPP Constituency Treasurer and Okada drivers in an angry mood stated that, the policemen have missed their mission of protecting the citizens and also failed in curbing the recent armed robbery cases on the Ekye- Agordeke road.

This statement, according to the supporters of the NPP, angered the police officers who eventually turned their anger on the victims and beat them up to a pulp.

However, scores of party faithful upon hearing about the beating of their Treasurer trooped to the Donkorkrom Police Divisional Command to demand justice for him and Okada drivers.

One of the supporters who spoke to this news outlet stated that beating the victims by the police officers is unlawful to land criminal acts.

According to him, things are not easy for them in the area due to the rampant armed robberies in the area.

"We sleep and wake up with the armed robbers who attack and steal our properties every day although we have a police patrol team in the area.

"The police were in bed when armed robbers attack us in various homes. We are calling on the newly appointed IGP to reshuffle the police officers in the area and bring the new officers since the old ones had compromised their profession," the Residents told.

According to them, whenever they called for police protection whenever there is robbery, the police would rather impound on them and leave the criminals to go scotfree.

They have accused the police officers of using their stick to beat civilians, lamenting that "sometimes the police officers at Donkorkrom point their guns on us threatening to shoot us whenever we resist beatings from them."

They cited the instance where one of the residents was seriously attacked by the armed robbers on his motorcycle, saying that when they reported the case to the police, they never took it seriously.

They called on the IGP to call to order the police officers at Donkorkrom since they are in bed with the criminals.
