NPP Rubbishes Appointment Of Volta Regional Officers
The Volta Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly rejected the recent announcement regarding the appointment of regional officers.
In a press statement issued through Mr. Shabanton Moses Kwasi Dutsrogbe, the party explained that Article 9(10) of the NPP Constitution requires elected regional officers to consult with the National Executive Committee within 14 days of their election to appoint other regional officers.
Because of this rule, the party stated that the appointments announced by Regional Chairman Mr. Makafui Kofi Woanya should be ignored because they do not reflect a decision made by the elected regional executives.
The statement noted that the elected regional executives have not held an official meeting to discuss, consider, or approve any appointments since their election. Therefore, any appointments made without proper consultation and a collective decision are invalid.
The party declared the appointments null and void because they did not come from a properly constituted meeting of the elected regional executives. They stressed that the announcement does not represent the collective decision of the Volta Regional Executives and must be disregarded.
