NPP Conference  not time for contest -Buaben Asamoah warns aspirants
Mr. Buaben Asamoah

The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Buaben Asamoah has reiterated the ban on campaign at the impending NPP Conference scheduled for Kumasi on the 18th -20 December 2021.

Addressing a news Conference at the Party’s Headquarters in Accra on Monday, the Communications Director, stressed that “the conference is a time for mobilization and not contest”.

He explained that the current happenings in Ghana in relation to the 2022 budget coupled with E-levy is more important to the party than campaign by various aspirants at the conference.

He added that the conference seeks the collective will of the party on the needs of the people.

“People are hungry for direction and the government is offering that direction. The E- levy is one of such directions”, Mr. Asamoah explained.

He said the successful implementation of the E-levy will create jobs for the youth and generate enough revenue for the government whilst helping in reducing the excessive borrowing.

He added that the digitization agenda which is one of the directions is also helping in nipping corruption in the bud.

In that regard, he indicated that paraphernalia with inscriptions such as the e-levy and the digitization agenda of the government will be displayed all over the conference grounds in replacement of the campaign bill boards.

Mr. Asamoah later emphasized that the theme of the Conference :” NPP our result our determination and commitment to Ghana’s development” should be a grave interest to the various aspirants rather than the campaign adding that the aspirants must show leadership by restraining their followers from engaging in activities that are counter-productive to the focus of the Conference.

He said even though all the aspirants are competent to lead the party to break the 8, it was important for the right thing to be done at the right time.

The former MP for Adentan therefore appealed to the Chief of Staff to ensure that the MCE in whose jurisdiction the conference is taking place enforces the ban by pulling down the bill boards should the aspirants fail to adhere to the directive.

On his part the Head of the Presidential Task Force for Covid-19, Dr. Nsiah Asare revealed that all Covid-19 protocols will be strictly enforced adding that Delegates without Covid -19 vaccination cards will be denied entry into the grounds.
