The Northern Regional Minister who doubles as the Chairman of REGSEC expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent attack on the Fulanis at Zakoli, a community at the Yendi Municipality in the Northern Region.

The incident, which occurred in broad daylight on Wednesday, 13 April 2022, left eight Fulanis dead; Malam Osman, Alhaji Baako, Yahaya Jallo, Kadiru Jallo, Umar Jallo, Haruna Jallo, Saibu Wubi, and an Unknown person.

The bodies of the deceased would be released to their families for burial after the necessary autopsies are done, according to Honorable. Shani.

During his visit to the affected persons to obtain first-hand information about the attack, he assured the Chief of Zakoli, Naa Abukari Andani, and the people that a thorough investigation will be done to ensure that the perpetrators will be arrested and put before the law court.

He urged the Fulani community to exercise restraint and allow the law to take its course.

Also, he appealed to the chiefs and people around Zakoli to assist in the investigation process to enhance the arrest of the perpetrators., 

Accordingly, he directed that a police detachment team should stay in the community to ensure that lives and properties are protected.

He said that the government as a matter of urgency would provide the needed support to the victims. "The Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) in collaboration with National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) will immediately provide first aid interventions including food and other relief materials for their upkeep as well as phycologists to interact with the victims.”

He briefed Ndan Ya-Na (The King of Dagbon), Abukari II on the situation, and appealed for his support in the investigation.
