The Ahafo Regional Department of Cooperatives has embarked on a mission to educate farmers in the region to form associations to easily access financial support.

Speaking in an interview with SN24 News the Ahafo Regional Director of the Department of Cooperatives, Mr. DE graft Donkor, said the mission for the department is to enhance access to agricultural credit to alleviate poverty, improve the livelihood of rural farmers, and the good market price of their farm produce in the region.

He urged farmers to get their heads together and form cooperatives to collectively find sustainable solutions to the problems they face.

He said that farmers are unable to solve issues individually, therefore should run enterprises together in their communities to boost their bargaining power and gain more support from the government of Ghana.

According to DE graft Donkor, cooperatives create social relations that enable individuals to achieve goals that they may not otherwise be able to achieve by themselves.
