No use for talks without a genuine ceasefire - Burhan

The Saudi-US-mediated discussions between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that started on May 6 in Jeddah have not yet yielded much public information.

However, SAF commander Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan stated to Egypt's Al-Qahera News TV on Monday that a true ceasefire was necessary before sitting down to negotiate in Saudi Arabia.

Gen. Burhan stated that he supported all actions aimed at halting bloodshed but emphasized that the RSF must lay down its arms.

Since the fighting started on April 15, numerous ceasefires have been broken.
