No rule is enforceable on us - Dakpema Palace

The Palace of Tamale Dakpema says no rule is enforceable on them without the basis of customs and traditions.

"We the Tamale Dakpamli family is here to inform and to assure the general public that, as far as we are concerned, our title (Dakpamli) is based on pure Dagbon customs and traditions (Tindaani), and for that matter, no rule is enforceable on us without the bases of these customs and traditions".

The Palace reacting to a letter dated 20th February 2022 from the Dagbon Traditional Council signed by its registry, Mr. Alhassan Abdul Fatawu, Palace urged residents of the greater Tamale to disregard the letter.

It would be recalled that the Registry of the Dagbon Traditional Council in the said letter cautioned Nyeb Tamale Dakpema to desist from holding himself as the chief of the Metropolis and as well stop gracing public events.

He said Dakpema is a fetish priest within Tamale together with others, hence, it would be an affront for him to assume himself as the Paramount Chief of Tamale.

In response to the letter signed by the Registry, Protocol officer at the Dakpema Palace, Mr. Abdullai Nasir in a statement said the letter suggested to be coming from the Dagbon Traditional Council is disgraceful and unfortunate.

"Our attention has been drawn to an unfortunate letter circulating in the media. The said letter does not reflect the true face of the Dagbon tradition as we know. Unfortunately, the Dagbon tradition is now being displayed wrongly in the market for everyone to see. We the Tamale Dakpamli family is here to inform and to assure the general public that, as far as we are concerned, our title Dakpamli is based on pure Dagbon customs and traditions  Tindaani, and for that matter, no rule is enforceable on us without the bases of these customs and traditions".

Mr. Abdullai advised the Dagbon Traditional Council to use legitimate and customary means in ironing out chieftaincy Issues instead of the media.

According to him, checks at the Gbewaa and the Kug-Naa palace revealed that the letter has not been sanctioned by the two eminent

"People should disregard the letter dated 20th February 2022 with reference DTC-TD-7-22-02, we want to assure our people that Tamale belongs to Tamale Dakpema and no amount of machinations can change that.

He however advised sons and daughters of the Greater Tamale to remain resolute and calm as due process is being followed to address the misunderstood Dakpamli skin.
