Nigeria train service due to reopen months after attack

After being suspended for nine months, a crucial train connection between the northern city of Kaduna and the Nigerian capital, Abuja, is set to restart on Monday.

Gunmen mined the track in March of last year, forcing a train carrying more than 360 people to stop.

At least eight passengers died, and numerous others were abducted.

Passengers who shied away from taking the road had found the link to be appealing.

New security measures are being implemented by the Nigeria Railway Corporation, including equipment to watch the tracks and the trains.

Additionally, passengers will need to supply their national identity number.

According to the authorities, Boko Haram, an Islamist insurgent organization, was responsible for the train attack.
