Senegal ruling coalition loses absolute majority

Following the legislative elections on Sunday, the Senegalese electoral authority reports that the governing coalition has lost the majority.

It obtained 82 of the 165 members in the National Assembly, two more than the principal opposition coalition.

Smaller organizations won the three open seats, and they now control the balance of power.

The results, according to reporters, show discontent with President Macky Sall, who hasn't ruled out seeking a third term.

The current term limit is two.

The opposition had previously demanded that the results' publication be delayed due to purported anomalies.
