Nigeria seeks life in jail for illegal explosives makers

A bill supporting life imprisonment without the possibility of a fine was approved by the Nigerian senate and is now in effect.

Following the review and approval of a report by a senate committee on solid minerals, mines, steel development, and metallurgy, local media reported that the bill was passed on Wednesday.

The MPs claimed that criminals were using explosives in increasingly creative ways.

They claimed that suicide bombers had used explosives to kill several Nigerians.

Before being brought to the president for approval, the House of Representatives will debate the bill.
