NGO Calls On Government Support To Improve Girl Child Education In Deprived Areas

The Chief Executive Officer of Giving to Life Charity Organization, Madam Dorcas Dadzie has called on the government, individuals, and other philanthropists to provide educational support to young Girls living in deprived rural communities.

According to her, most schools in deprived communities are still limited in terms of the new learning way, good infrastructure, and teaching personnel.

She said most school children in the rural areas turn out to be dropouts, okada riders, and victims of teenage pregnancy due to limited support to improve their education system.

Mrs. Dadzie in a press conference in Accra today said even though slum dwellers were illegal residents, their children were Ghanaians who needed to enjoy their constitutional rights which included access to education, and called on the government to establish schools in such areas for the benefit of those children.

She added most parents in such deprived areas are peasant farmers who find it difficult to provide for their wards.

According to Mrs. Dadzie, when government, individuals, and other Non-Government Organizations (NGO) help to create a vocational center and market for the farmers, they can provide for their wards, especially young girls to attend school.

The Public Relations Officer of Give To Life, Mrs. Helen Kankam, said last year, the association’s sensitization project in Brekusu, in the Akuapem South District of the Eastern Region, resulted in many nursing mothers going back to school to continue their education
Whilst others gained professional life skills.
