NEDCo and VRA Plungged Parts of Tamale in darkness for the crime committed by an individual

The Northern Electricity Company (NEDCo) and the Volta River Authority for the past eight days have stopped supplying power to residents of Kublemahagu and other areas due to a standoff between a customer and some Staff of the company.

Well build personnel of the Electricity company on Monday 7th, 2022 meet a tough resistance in their attempt to disconnect a customer who is currently at large for an alleged illegal connection.

Due to the customer's action, the staff cut short the exercise and later plugged the entire community t darkness out of emotion and power play.

At the time of report today Sunday 13th, 2022, power haven't been restored in the community since the day of the incident.

The company's attitude towards residents of Kublemahagu and other areas is mind-boggling and thus becoming one too many in Tamale, which the Ministry of Energy and the Akufo Addo government must resolve with immediate effect to avoid dissatisfaction against the NPP government.

Under the current harsh weather condition in the Northern Region, babies and their age are all being punished for a perceived mistake committed by a customer.

Request by opinion leaders in Tamale to restore power to the community has been thrown to the dogs by the distribution company.

A resident in the community told Soireenews that, the private electricians use by the company to undertake the exercise intimidate and use vague words whenever they come into contact with customers.

According to him, their approach to issues is disheartening and inhuman.

He further questioned why a misunderstanding between a customer and the company should affect an entire Community for a crime not committed.

The clueless posture of the power distribution company in recent times according to him follows leadership failure in the Northern Region.

Unfortunately, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu commenting on the incident on a Tamale base radio station condemned residents of Kublemahagu for reasons best known to him.

He indicated that the residents would continue to sleep in darkness if they fail to fish out the customer who resisted the disconnection.

The Minister after commenting received equal condemnation from residents of Tamale on both radio stations and social media for not having the citizenry at heart.
