SMA engages shop owners ahead of road construction
Some of the shop owners in attendance said, the Sunyani Municipal Assembly should remember to compensate owners who will be affected because they have already been hit by the covid-19 pandemic in other not to deprive people of their daily income.

The Sunyani Municipal Assembly has engaged some shop owners along the Sunyani- Nimpong Hotel ring road linking the Nana Bosoma market ahead of the road construction works to begin.
As part of the second face in the ongoing World Bank funded Secondary City Capacity Support Program the meeting by stakeholders was aimed at sensitizing those who will be affected to make plans for relocation and compliance to make way for the road construction works to kick off.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews, the Municipal Development Planning officer for Sunyani Municipal Assembly Mr Haruna Abdulai said, there was a need for the said road to be constructed to ease the pressure that travellers go through before getting to the Nana Bosoma market.
He added that a lot of financial benefits are expected if the road is completed saying it will save residents money unlike before, as it can cause job opportunities for business owners in the area.
When asked about the contract duration, Mr Abdulai said all things being equal the contractor is supposed to complete within (9) nine-month, as he emphasized that there will be two (2) months of tendering duration screening and awarding subsequently.
He was hopeful that the contract will be started this year and see completion come 2022.
Some of the shop owners in attendance speaking with Soiree news said the Assembly should remember to compensate owners who will be affected because they have already been hit by the covid-19 pandemic in other not to deprive people of their daily income.
They however called on the Assembly to consider the Artisans around Sunyani when selecting expertise for any construction works.
