NDC Condemned and Rejects New Voters Register Claims.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Secretary in Tain, in the Bono Region, Hon. Tanner James has vowed to resist any attempt by the Electoral Commission (EC) to introduce a new voters’ register for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Secretary in Tain, in the Bono Region, Honorable. Tanor James, has vowed to resist any attempt by the Electoral Commission (EC) to introduce a new voters’ register for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The Constituency Secretary, who gave the warning on one-on-one interview with Appiah Kubi on Tain FM Anopa Nkommo show, insisted that any attempt by the EC, headed by Jean Mensah to compile a new voter’s register on the back of Ghana Card would be resisted.

According to Honorable James, the notice to the Electoral Commission forms a rudiment that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not accept any new electoral register compiled based on the Ghana Card which excludes Voter ID cards as a means of identification or registration, therefore disclosed to inhibit any attempt by the EC to compile new voter register for later acquiesce.

"If the EC Chair once again sees herself as an New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointee and feels obliged to act in accordance with the President’s wishes, she would bear full responsibility for any consequences thereof”, the Secretary reiterated.

The EC in a communiqué said to seek for a new Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) which will roll out continuous registration so that when somebody turns 18, the person goes to their offices and register.

According to the NDC Secretary, the EC must collaborate with the NIA to ensure full coverage of the Citizens, essentially, in Tain, before it could embark on such an adventure, if not there would be chaos and anarchy for any attempt by the EC to compile a new voter registers, hence the condemnation.
