Nana Addo will follow Trump out of Office – Asiedu Nketiah

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, says results from the United States elections indicates that President Nana Akufo-Addo will as well lose the 2020 elections.

Speaking in regards to election trends between Ghana and the United States, the NDC scribe predicted that just like President Donald Trump was voted out of power, the end of the road would come for President Akufo-Addo on December 7.

“The American elections are a sign of victory for the NDC. It looks like elections in Ghana and the United States have some special link. Anytime they vote for change since 1992, a similar thing happens in Ghana,” he told an Accra-based radio station as quoted by the ghanareport.com.

Per the electoral history between the two countries; in 1992, Bill Clinton, a Democrat defeated George W. Bush Snr, a Republican to become America’s 42nd President. In Ghana, J.J. Rawlings, who led the country as a military leader since 1981 contested and won the 1992 elections on the ticket of the NDC. The same trend was repeated in 1996.

In 2000, when the NPP came into power with J.A Kufour as President, the Republican similarly won the election in USA, with George W. Bush becoming the president. This trend reoccurred in 2004 with both parties maintaining power.

When the NDC came into power in 2008 and stayed in 2012, the Democrats in US also had won power and maintained it within the same period until Donald Trump (Republican) won in 2016.

Due to this, Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah believes the trend between the two countries would continue with the NDC gaining back power.

The NDC General Secretary said the Trump administration and that of President Akufo-Addo mirrored each other as the two leaders tried to undermine what their predecessors left behind.

“In the US, they did everything to repeal Obamacare, in Ghana, they [NPP], even changed the name of the Flagstaff House to Jubilee House
