My job is under threat yet I have a duty to perform - Zidane
Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane says he is solely focused on the El Clasico fixture on Saturday irrespective of rumours that failure to win will cost his job.

He has also admitted that indeed, his work could be on the line yet he has a responsibility to fulfil on Saturday.

"That's what they say [that my job is under threat] - I won't deny it," Zidane said. "What changes? Last year the same, in the first spell the same... What I have to do is my job, the rest is irrelevant."

Zidane has recorded two consecutive loses against Cadiz in the Laliga and Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday in the Champions League and has been criticised by fans. According to the manager loses happen in football therefore focusing on the past games changes nothing especially when he has a bigger game to play tomorrow against Barcelona.

"We got off to a bad start in the sense that when we conceded a goal, we found it hard to get our heads up again," Zidane explained. "We found it difficult to play against a team that sits so deep, but in football there are ups and downs and you have to accept that. "We want to now focus on a different game tomorrow and forget about what happened the other day. We have the chance to turn things around and it's a good and special match to do so."

The manager gave an update on Sergio Ramos injury and confirmed that the Spain captain will be part of the team having missed the game against the Ukrainians’ at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.

"Sergio is our leader, our captain, but we are not going to take any risks," Zidane stressed. "He has recovered and will be with us. It's about being one hundred per cent and Sergio is already there."

Commenting on the clash between the two teams, Real Madrid’s manager sees no major change in the El Clasico despite no fans in attendance and remarked that “it’s still a Clasico and it's always special. “It's important for us to start the game well. A Clasico is a Clasico, it'll be a good match despite the situation and the empty stadium.”
