Bournemouth have swept away the record of not winning a match against Southampton at the St. Mary Stadium in any competition.

Two first half goals from Ake and Wilson steered the visitors on before Southampton replied through a penalty hit by Ward-Prowse. Callum Wilson buried the game for the visitors to cruise of Southampton on Friday night.

Southampton begun the search for their first win on home soil in this year’s Premier League.

The visitors empowered the lead 10 minutes into the game through Ake. Liverpool’s Harry Wilson got into space behind Cedric to combine with the right full back, Stacey and won a corner. From Diego Rico’s delivery, Nathan Ake arrived infront of Danso and headed home the opener.

The Saints looked to break after a sloppy pass this time form Wilson. Another slack pass at the back gave Boufa a sight of goal but he dragged his left foot shot wide. Chris Kavanagh booked Lerma for a cynical challenge on Hodjerg in the 19-minute.

The Cherries worked out a decent counter attack through Wilson from midfield. After a few passes, Solanke was played in. he progressed into the yard and played in a through for King. Josh King slotted in a second but the Video Assistant Referee ruled out his goal as offside.

The home side took immediate advantage of that reprieve. Ward-Prowse allowed the ball to drop 25 yards outside of the Bournemouth box for a hit but his effort at goal went wide off the post.

Bournemouth scored a second in the 35-minute through Harry Wilson. Billing did all the work in midfield and initiated the attack before following his pass down the left. He found Harry Wilson 10 yards out for a sweeping finish beyond Gunn into the left-hand corner.

A minimum of two minutes was shown by the forth official before the first half ended.

The host responded in the 53-minute after referee Chris Cavanagh awarded a penalty for the Saints. Che Adams collided into Steve Cock and a quick check with the VAR team attested the decision of the referee. Ward-Prowse confidently struck the penalty to the left of Aaron Ramsdale to narrow the deficit.

Southampton took over the game and pressed the visitors for the leveler. Bournemouth clocked their foot against every ball that came their path. They hanged on looking to win get over the winless streak against the home side. Southampton as at the 82-minute have had seven attempts on goal compared to Bournemouth’s zero.  Ward Prowse lashed at the cross from substitute, Ings but Ramsdale smothered the ball low down to the left.

Great effort from Billing 30 yards out. He wrapped his left boot around the ball, the shot steered around the wall but just the wrong side of Gunn’s right-hand post.

A shambolic end of the second half befell Southampton when Callum Wilson slew the game to leave the home fans disappointed.  The Southampton keeper and centre-back did not deal with a long punt by Ramsdale and Callum Wilson is alert enough to take the ball and walk it into an empty net.
