The son of a former president and other others have received prison sentences in Mozambique for their involvement in the "tuna bonds" corruption scam.

Ndambi Guebuza, the son of the late president Armando Guebuza, as well as Gregorio Leao and Antonio do Rosario, two former intelligence chiefs, were all sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Eight of their co-accused were found guilty and received sentences ranging from 10 to 12 years.

Judge Efigenio Baptista delivered the sentencing and stated, "The acts committed have brought consequences whose ramifications will continue for centuries.
