Information gathered from the CID of Koforidua Police indicates, the 36-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son who were arrested by Koforidua Divisional Police Command over the death of 40-year-old husband and father respectively are to be put before a Magistrate court today in Koforidua.

Mavis Amponsah and her son, Ebenezer were arrested on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Asaman, a Community near Nkurakan, by youth in the community led by Issah Abass, a unit committee member, and handed them over to the police.

Our previous publication indicates that a misunderstanding ensued between Mavis Amponsah and her now-deceased husband Eric Amoako on Saturday, August 28, 2021, which the husband allegedly assaulted her.

Mavis invited her brother Kofi Dennis, 20, who came from Dawu-Akuapem with two other men to retaliate by subjecting the man to severe beatings.

In the cause of the attack, the woman allegedly struck the head of the man with a pestle which resulted in severe head injury, and subsequently fell unconscious.

The man was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital but died a few hours later.

CID personnel led by Joshua Coffie visited Dawu Akuapem in an attempt to arrest the Suspects but we’re all at large.

The police are expected to secure a bench warrant for their arrest.

The body of the deceased was deposited at the Morgue of the same Hospital.

Many residents thronged the Nkurakan Police station where the suspects were first put in custody before being transferred to Koforidua.
