More Trouble  For President Akufo-Addo As Ghanaians Threaten To Hit The Streets If These Deadly Utility Increases Are Given The Green Light By PURC
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice President Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia have incurred the wrath of the general public for sitting unconcerned for the continuous impositions of many killer taxes on the Ghanaians to pay under his watch.
According to the information available to Soireenews.com, every Ghanaian is lacing their boats to hit the streets, if the current deadly utility increases are given the green light by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
They argued that their intended demonstration would make to require a debts profile and recovery report of the two utility companies that are Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) adding that "We want to see a clean sheet before any increase would be accepted."
The scores of Ghanaians who spoke to this reporter in response to the current movement of the PURC to increase utility tariffs for both ECG and GWCL noted that the state institutions are owing millions, you are not forcing them to pay up and you want to push it on the citizens who are already burning under the economic crises heat.
"You send your staff and they go to negotiate with big organizations, collect some money and allow them to use electricity and water and then you turn to kill us with this nonsense increases. 147/135 increases? You the leaders in Ghana must be put to the stakes and shot. Do you want to kill all Ghanaians? How can you open your mouth to put forth this figure? How wicked you are.
"Leaders! Reduce your fat underserved allowances and share the burden with the common man on the street.
"Or leaders of these institutions have teamed up with the opposition to work again the government as a strategy by the opposition to ensure the government loses the elections," one concerned citizen of Ghana (whose name withheld) noted.
